VISITOR INFORMATION
Full Fare Customer:
  • 12 years of age and older except as noted below
  • Certified Special Services Customers are full fare, regardless of age

Reduced Fare Customer:

In some instances, access to the rail system may not be available until the Reduced Fare Customer summons assistance. Reduced fares are for:

  • Children ages 7 through 11 years of age. Each child pays a reduced fare
  • Customers with disabilities with RTA Reduced Fare Permit
  • All Medicare card holders are eligible to apply for the RTA Reduced Fare Program. Call 836-7000 from any local area code.
  • Attendant of any age accompanying a customer using an RTA Reduced Fare Permit with ID number starting with "P" for paratransit
  • Elementary and high school students presenting a valid CTA Student Riding Permit between 05:30 and 20:00 hours only on weekdays when school is in session, for school purposes

Note:

The following customers may ride the CTA free:

  • Children under age 7 ride free with a fare-paying customer.
  • Seniors age 65 and over with RTA Reduced Fare Riding Permit or RTA Ride Free Smart Card, living in Cook, DuPage, Kane, Lake, McHenry and Will counties.
  • Active military personnel in full uniform or customers with a CTA Military Service Pass.
